The Proposal |

Told from the prospective of Peter... She said "YES"...enough said : )

Told from the prospective of Summer... First off let me tell you that for the record, it was a TOTAL surprise. Peter did great, and I'm a hard one to get anything past! It all started when Peter asked if he could take me on a surprise date. His excuse was, that he "hadn't seen me for a while". And being the sweet guy that Peter is, I bought it. The only conflict was that I had class, but after several minutes of twisting my arm, I finally agreed. So on December 1st he showed up at my front door. He told me to pack an overnight bag because we wouldn't be returning. I raised an eyebrow to signify that my mind was turning, speculating, I was Nancy Drew on a mission to figure out what HE was up to... Of course the options were limited; I figured we were going back to Waco . I really knew when we got on I-35 N. I squirmed just enough in my seat for Peter to retort, "What's wrong?" "Well" I replied, "it's just that you just came from Waco and it just doesn't make sense that you drove all the way here to get me, I just should have met you there!" Note to reader, this is a really bad thing to say to a guy whose about to propose! If your significant other is doing things that don't make sense he or she might be trying to BLESS YOU!! He raised his voice just enough to let me know that I should not say anything... he had a plan. So I went back to speculating where he was taking me, and just before we turned off the highway, I had guessed it! He was taking me to Salado , which was horribly unfair because everybody knows that everyone gets engaged in Salado ! Little did I know… So there were, having a wonderful time, Christmas shopping, buying people gifts etc. so much so that when we had stopped for tea at a tea room, I leaned across the table and said, "this is so wonderful Peter, I wish that we were getting engaged today..." I really meant it too! And the funny thing is, is that I had never said or alluded to that ever! Boy did he have me fooled. Next stop was a trail ride! It was the first time I rode a horse since I was twelve and I was thrilled, except I thought to myself, "this was such a good idea, if he were really smart he would have saved this for the day we got engaged." Turns out he was smarter than I thought : ) After the trail ride Peter blindfolded me and told me that we were going to a surprise place for dinner. Remember, this was the date of surprises. Except I knew where we were going because I paid attention to the road and the turns we took. We were headed for Cameron Park! We pulled up and Peter got me out of the car and it was FREEZING!! I mean, I was so cold! He took my hand and lead me down a rocky path (remember I was blind folded, so yeah Scary!) In the distance I heard some music playing and recognized it as this romantic jazz mix I made Peter. I knew that something was up. I silently prayed to God that this would be the night he proposed, but I still thought it was too good to be true. This had been the best date ever! When he finally took the blind fold off we were standing on a white blanket surrounded by tea lights in the shape of a heart. A beautiful bouquet of roses and stargazer lilies were to my right and there in front of me was my handsome fiancé holding a sparkly thing that I assumed was a ring, but by this time it was too dark to be sure. I dropped to my knees and threw my arms around his neck and for the next what seemed liked 10 mins, said "Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh, Oh my gosh! Are you serious?" He soon presented me with a bible inscribed with my soon to be new name, Mrs. Summer Ellis. Wow! Wonderful eh? I couldn't have planned it better myself! To top off the night we drove to our friend Matt and Tiffany Bonow's house where a bunch of our friends were waiting to congratulate us and to hear our proposal story!!! |
